Troubleshooting
Restart Steam, allow the update to finish and compare the title screen or patch information with the official latest notes.
Close the game and Steam, then restart the computer. This clears stuck processes without changing data.
Use Steam Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity. This replaces damaged game files, not your normal saves.
Disable mods and custom loaders temporarily. Engine changes can make previously working mods incompatible.
Compare RAM and graphics hardware with official requirements, close heavy apps and keep free disk space.
Do not delete saves. Make a copy before switching branches or attempting any manual repair.
The official beta instructions say imported beta saves do not overwrite main-branch saves, and progress does not carry between the two branches.
Mods built for the earlier file structure need updates. Test without mods before treating a problem as a base-game bug.
Update to v0.16.3 or later; the official notes include a fix for slowdowns on farms with several animals.
Deletion removes evidence needed for support and may permanently destroy progress. Back up first.
